When birds begin disappearing from the forests around Witchborough the girls will need to use all their knowledge, and a little magic, to solve the mystery. But along the way they face a hitherto unknown threat to their coven when their grimoire is stolen – and it begins to look like one of the girls might have to leave, forever.

If you were a fan of Trixie Belden, Nancy Drew, the famous five or secret seven – this is the book for your children.

The Cassie’s Coven series is based around four young Australian girls who discover that they have been left a magical heritage from their great-great grandmothers to become witches.

They find out over the series that they are each a special kind of witch; black, white, green and yellow – each with their own powers and all aimed at protecting the natural world.

Each mystery they solve revolves around some kind of environmental issue which has the potential to wreak havoc on their small town.

The first book introduces the characters, has them find a magical book, meet their familiars and solve their first mystery.

As the series goes on they become more proficient in their powers, find out the background of their town and their ancestors and solve mystery after mystery.

Wonderful Series | 5 out of 5 Stars

Cassie’s Coven 3 – With this book, there’s a growth in the story, the characters and the plotlines; they’re more substantial, more mature. While still a kid’s book, this is a fun, interesting story for all ages. There are new characters: good and bad; human and magical; that will surprise the reader, but makes for a good story.

The power of friendship

Cassie’s Coven. Book 3.

The fun of this series is that although there are magical elements, the friendships between the girls and their animal companions is at the heart of the stories: how they show their respect for each other and the world around them.

Disappearing wild birds are at the center of this episode’s mystery.

Danger sometimes is a serious element of the story. The girls defeat the bad elements if they work together, and stand by each other as they and their families grow and change.

I was pleased to read an advanced copy of this story, which also reads well as a standalone, as background on the girls is provided in each book.

As part of a series, I’m looking forward to see how the girls grow and change as they face their challenges together.

The girls take on bird disappearances | 5 out of 5 Stars

In this third book of the series the girls overhear a conversation about how little bird song is about and this starts them investigating why there seem to be very few birds about. They get into all sorts of scraps and situations as they try to find out what is happening to the birds. they stake out the nests in trees on the property where they live and Lolly falls and breaks her leg but they still manage to solve the case. A very enjoyable read whether you are ten or sixty.

Book 3 of the series. Another mystery of birds … | 5 out of 5 Stars

Book 3 of the series. Another mystery of birds disappearing and the friendship that grows between the girls with their detective skills and magic.

Each new story shows how friendships can grow with respect towards each other while learning about life’s mysteries.
